Tom Galvin to outline how to mitigate the security vulnerabilities of video surveillance systems
DALLAS – May 2, 2017 – Cameras connected to enterprise networks are under increasing risk of security incidents from physical sabotage, vandalism, and cybersecurity breaches. Next week at the TEC security conference, Razberi Technologies CEO Tom Galvin will explain these security exposures and best practices for how to handle them. Presented by the PSA Security Network, the event will be held on May 7-11 in Westminster, Colorado.
Session Title: Security of the Security: Cybersecurity Best Practices and Automation for Video Surveillance Systems
Date/Time: Tuesday, May 9, 1:00 p.m. MDT
Topic: Video surveillance systems are under numerous and escalating threats. Even initially well-protected and isolated “camera only” networks can suffer security weaknesses caused by unintended connections that bridge to the main corporate network.
The majority of surveillance video susceptibilities are due to human error such as negligence and misconfigurations. Unfortunately for most installers, addressing this issue requires a detailed understanding of network operations and a labor-intensive process to fully secure the system. Lack of know-how and a constant waterfall of urgent items often prevent physical security and IT professionals from deploying the right preventative measures.
During the session, Tom will outline how security professionals can better protect their video surveillance systems from security threats. Attendees will learn:
- The various types of security vulnerabilities often caused by human error such as: weak passwords, poor deployment, the need for multi-departmental cooperation, software bugs, physical installation problems, poor maintenance, etc.;
- Best practices for securing cameras in small businesses, mid-size companies, and enterprises with large network infrastructures; and
- Ways that automated camera hardening solutions – done correctly and at scale – could make their lives easier.
Razberi will also be exhibiting in booth #A15 and demonstrating its new CameraDefense™ software that protects IP cameras and corporate networks from cyber attacks and other security risks.
